FONT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR LINUX

    Download the IranWeb2 font and install it in your Linux operating system by following these instructions:

    1. Download the font by saving this link as iranweb2.ttf on your harddisk.
      NOTE: Netscape users must bring the mouse over this link and press on the right mouse botton to save the iranweb2.ttf font.
    2. log in as root.
    3. cd /usr/share/fonts
    4. mkdir truetype
    5. cd truetype
    6. Copy the iranweb2.ttf to this directory
    7. ttmkfdir
    8. mkforntdir
    9. chkfontpath -a /usr/share/fonts/truetype
    10. fc-cache
    11. Now log out of the X and log back in.
    12. Everytime you start Mozilla and come to the Iranica page, select Edit, select Preferences, expand Appearance, select Fonts, choose Iran Web2 in the box titled, "Serif" and press OK.

    You will see the proper dicritics in all the Encyclopedia pages. Now you may go and enjoy this wealth of information. (Note, when you revisit this site, you should only perform step 12 to be able to read the text properly.)
